Merrion Hotel, Clelia & Neil

Clelia Murphy & Neil Casely’s wedding in the Merrion Hotel and Pepper Canister church in Dublin City centre was one of the funniest and most fun weddings of 2023.

It was a day filled with joy, laughter, and a whole lot of fun. Clelia, known for her role as Niamh in RTE’s long running soap, Fair City, was surrounded by loved ones and familiar faces. Neil, a huge rugby fan, got the surprise of his life when the Irish rugby team drove past on their way to the Aviva Stadium to take on England.

BrookLodge holds a special place in our hearts as Annie and I got married there ourselves. We got married at Christmas, which has its own winter charm, but shooting a summer wedding together on a perfect day in Brooklodge always gives us both a bit of FOMO. There can’t be a better place to get married than a clearing in a forest by a stream in front of just your closest friends. Not really on option in winter if you still want them to be your friends.

Someone observed in Alish’s house that morning how classically traditional a wedding this was, apart from the two brides. Because that’s not an old tradition, it’s a new one in Ireland since 22 May 2015.

Dunbrody House, Co. Wexford

Juliet and Michael are known to to their family and friends as Jet & Mikey were childhood sweethearts and to the whole happy crowd in Dunbrody, they were Jet and Mikey.
That's also who they are to myself and Annie after a glorious September afternoon in Dunbrody House that was the opposite of unnecessary formality in every great way. This was a day for an outdoor ceremony (in homely but beautiful Dunbrody House) filled with the sounds of laughter from the anecdotes of old friends to a soundtrack of the piano played by a talented college roommate.

Chris and Fiona grew up together in Enniskerry. Chris was able to walk from home to his wedding and Fiona could have all her musician friends fill the church with the sound of music. Lucky for them a homely local wedding in Enniskerry lands you in one of the most majestic settings in Ireland - Powerscourt House, set in the epic Powerscourt Gardens, 47 acres of the some of the most impressive gardens in the world. It's a national treasure, a tourist attraction and a treat for the guests as lovely as Fiona's "where did that come from?" incredible Opera singing mid-ceremony.
